Hunting a Witch starts the second main story line in Velen, beside Family Matters. Hendrik's notes say that Ciri quarreled with a witch who lives near the village of Midcopse. The witch turns out to be the sorceress Keira Metz. Keira's news is about someone else: a masked elven mage who came to her asking about Ciri. She offers to take Geralt to his hideout.

Hunting a Witch map location:

1. Ride to Midcopse during the day.
2. Listen to the women gossiping by the fire, keeping some distance.
3. Talk to the old man smoking a pipe near the western entrance.
4. Talk to the woman by her house, then to her husband, who visits the witch.
5. Follow the path north of the village to the witch's hut.
6. Wait for the witch to send the villagers away.
7. Enter the hut and search it with Witcher Senses.
8. Touch the skull to open a portal, and step through.
9. Walk to the building in the middle of the cavern and climb the stairs.
10. Talk to Keira Metz about Ciri.
11. Agree to go with Keira to the elven mage's hideout.
