Keira Metz is a sorceress and a former advisor to King Foltest of Temeria. She now hides near the village of Midcopse in Velen, posing as a village witch. Geralt finds her while following Ciri's trail in the quest Hunting a Witch. Her own story runs through a chain of side quests in Velen.

Geralt first met Keira during the coup on Thanedd Island. She was thrown out of a window and nearly landed right on his head.

Keira was once the respected advisor to the late King Foltest. She lost his trust and was chased out of Temeria. Later she joined the Lodge of Sorceresses. That earned her the hatred of both King Radovid of Redania and the Emperor of Nilfgaard. So she went deep into hiding in the Velen backwoods, posing as a cunning woman. She clearly hates every minute of it. Keira loves luxury and has never stopped longing for life at a royal court.

Story

Hendrik's notes say that Ciri quarrelled with a witch near Midcopse, and Geralt goes looking for her. The witch turns out to be Keira. She has not seen Ciri. She does tell Geralt about an elven mage who came asking about Ciri before him. The elf kept a hideout in nearby elven ruins and promised Keira a magic lamp. Keira and Geralt explore the ruins together in Wandering in the Dark, where they fight the Wild Hunt. Afterwards Geralt helps her find the lamp.

Keira then asks for more favors. Geralt lifts the curse on the tower of Fyke Isle, and then runs another errand for her. As thanks, Keira invites Geralt to a fine dinner. The evening ends badly. Keira puts him to sleep with a secret spell.

Keira had played Geralt from the start. While he slept, she stole the notes of the mage Alexander from the tower on Fyke Isle. The notes hold research on the plague. Keira plans to trade them to Radovid in return for a pardon, and a way back to a life without lice and filth. Geralt catches up with her on Fyke Isle, and her fate depends on his choice. If Geralt refuses to let her go, neither side backs down. They fight, and Keira dies. If Geralt lets her go to Radovid, Keira leaves with the notes. Radovid laughs in her face and has her impaled. Triss and Geralt later take her body down, and Triss gives her a proper burial.

If Geralt talks her out of the plan, Keira goes to the safety of Kaer Morhen instead. She fights bravely against the Wild Hunt there and saves Lambert from certain death.

Relationships

Keira and Triss both once served King Foltest as advisors. If Keira survives and fights at Kaer Morhen, she and Lambert grow close. They decide to stay together once the battle is over.
