It gives +5% sign intensity, +5% adrenaline gain, a 5% chance to cause bleeding and +5% bonus experience from humans and nonhumans. It has 1 rune slot.
The mix of sign intensity, adrenaline and bleeding suits a bleeding hybrid build, which the Wolven set bonuses also reward.
Set Bonus
The Wolven set is medium armor. It has five tiers: Basic at level 14, Enhanced at 21, Superior at 29, Mastercrafted at 34 and Grandmaster at 40. The 3-piece and 6-piece bonuses come from Grandmaster pieces worn as a school set. 3 pieces: each bleeding effect on an enemy raises sword damage by 1% per set piece worn. 6 pieces: each adrenaline point raises how many bleeding effects can stack on one enemy.
How to Get Wolven Steel Sword
- Start Scavenger Hunt: Wolf School Gear at Kaer Morhen. The diagram can also be collected without the quest.
- Go to the Bastion near Kaer Morhen and take the diagram, which lies with Varin's journal.
- An amateur blacksmith crafts the sword.

The pin marks the Bastion near Kaer Morhen. The Wolven Steel Sword diagram lies on a skeleton in the burned wooden remains inside, with Varin's journal. It turns up during Scavenger Hunt: Wolf School Gear, and an amateur blacksmith crafts the sword from it.
- Start Scavenger Hunt: Wolf School Gear by finding any of its diagrams, or by buying the slightly torn notes from the blacksmith in Lindenvale.
- Travel to the Bastion near Kaer Morhen.
- Kill the wraiths that come out to attack.
- Head inside to the burned wooden remains.
- Loot the skeleton for the steel sword diagram and Varin's journal.

Notes
In NG+ the diagram makes Legendary Wolven Steel Sword instead. It needs level 14 plus the NG+ starting level, with a minimum of 39, and deals 320.8-392 damage at level 39. Its sign intensity, adrenaline gain, bleeding chance and crit chance are all +11%.
