Experience
Experience (XP) levels Geralt up, and every level grants one skill point. The level cap is 70 in the base game, and Blood and Wine raises the maximum level to 100.
How It Works
- Geralt gains one skill point per level.
- Each Place of Power grants a skill point the first time Geralt uses it.
- Geralt gets much less experience from content far below his level.
- A successful Axii in dialogue gives XP.
- A Potion of Clearance resets spent skill points.
Gear That Boosts XP
Some items raise the experience Geralt gains, such as trophies and swords with "Bonus experience from humans and nonhumans".
| Item | Image | Bonus |
|---|---|---|
| Wolven Silver Sword | +20% from monsters | |
| Weeper (Crafted) | +20% from monsters | |
| Grandmaster Forgotten Wolven Steel Sword | +10% from humans and nonhumans | |
| Grandmaster Legendary Forgotten Wolven Steel Sword | +10% from humans and nonhumans |
NG+
A Geralt who finished below level 30 starts NG+ at level 30. A Geralt who finished higher keeps his finishing level.
Remastered
Remastered rebuilt the skill trees with three ranks per skill and reset every skill point on existing saves. Skill prerequisites replaced the old point-spending thresholds. At rank 1, each General skill adds +1% Vitality, each Combat skill adds +1% Adrenaline Point gain, and each Alchemy skill adds +2% potion duration and bomb damage.
