The ARCH Substance 171 is the bike the company is still developing, built from carbon fibre, aluminium and cured leather on an ultralight frame. It is meant to be the fastest thing ARCH has ever made. The frame has no cells in it at all, which is where its lightness comes from. It stands apart from the rest of the ARCH range because it has not finished being built. The Substance 171 is an ARCH project rather than a bike on the street.
Performance
The rear wheel drives, as on every ARCH. The frame is lighter than anything else the company makes, which is what gives the bike its agility rather than raw engine power.
A CHOOH2 engine supplies that power. The combination is meant to turn quickly and accelerate harder than the Nazare or the Jackie bikes it would sit beside.
Lore
ARCH is Jackie Welles's favourite maker and the one his own bike came from. The company builds for riders who want the machine to answer immediately.
The Substance is described as being built with one aim, to achieve the impossible. An intricate blend of carbon fibre, aluminium and cured leather sits on a non-cellular frame, and a CHOOH2 engine drives it to speeds the company says were never imagined before.
