House on a Hill

House on a Hill
Type	Cyberpsycho Sighting
Giver	Regina Jones
Region	Badlands

House on a Hill is a cyberpsycho sighting for Regina Jones in the Badlands. Shots have been heard on the quiet outskirts of the city. The cyberpsycho is Russell Greene, a man so afraid of attack that he turned his family home into a fortress, with mines, turrets and a second hand netrunner chair. When his own security went off, his family paid the price.

Story

Lives to Save

The journal says shots were heard on the city's outskirts, rare in such a peaceful area. Why wait for the clean up crew when there might still be lives to save? Afterwards, it adds: what a bloodbath, and all he had to do was drop it. People spend their time talking instead of listening.

The Netrunner Chair

Mails tell how it began. Russell bought a netrunner chair from a shop called We.Sell.Everything.NC, and its coils shorted his grid. He demanded new ones. The shop told him he had bought a chair for watching TV, ancient tech no one should jack into the Net, and warned him to unplug it before it killed him. Russell called them hacks and swore to fix it himself.

Don't Come

His wife, Natasha, wrote a message to someone outside: do not come, there is no point, Russell has lost it. She tried to understand what he had been through, and even scolded their son, Peter, for wanting to escape. Now she knows Peter was right. Last week Russell laid new mines and forgot to tell her. The house felt more like a prison.

I Knew This Would Happen

Russell's own message reveals the end. While he tested the netrunner chair, he turned it up too far, the grid shorted and the coils blew. When his wife came to see what happened, all hell broke loose. Russell believes "they" finally got his family, and blames them for not listening and not staying inside. He is ready to fight to the end.
