Salt In The Wound pays V for keeping an assault rifle on one target. A run of consecutive hits on the same enemy lands a bonus equal to everything those shots already did. It sits at the top of the Reflexes tree and applies to assault rifles alone. Discipline with the trigger is what it rewards.
Effect
The condition is a chain of hits on a single target, with no misses and no switching. Complete it and the enemy takes a second helping of the whole burst at once.
That is an enormous amount of damage, and it is why the perk changes how a rifle build picks its targets. Spreading fire across a room is now the wrong answer, and working through enemies one at a time is the right one.
How to Unlock Salt In The Wound
It sits behind the Legend gate of the Reflexes tree, which takes nearly every point V has. Sharpshooter must be fully bought first.
Perk Tree
Salt In The Wound is bought from Sharpshooter in the Reflexes tree.
| Name | Image | Tier | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sharpshooter | Phenom (15) | +15% aim speed. |
Character Builds
The build is an assault rifle Reflexes build with nearly every point in the attribute. The weapon has to be an assault rifle, and the discipline it demands is to stay on one target.
Buy it as the Legend gate opens, after Sharpshooter is fully bought. Mind Over Matter and Tunnel Vision far below are what keep a long run of shots on the same enemy, so a build planning for this perk should have taken both of them early.
Notes
Mind Over Matter and Tunnel Vision lower in the branch cut recoil and raise accuracy, which is what keeps a long run of shots from missing.
Submachine guns are not covered, and they have Submachine Fun at the same height instead.
