Petrification in Dragon's Dogma 2 is a debilitation that causes its victims total immobility and ultimately resulting in death. Using Malleating Elixir counters petrification effect which affects both the Arisen and Pawns. If an Arisen becomes fully petrified, they can be revived with a Wakestone, however if a pawn succumbs to this effect it becomes irretrievable and is lost forever. One of the most known Monsters that cause this debilitation is Medusa.
This debilitation can be inflicted by petrifying attacks. Continue to suffer such attacks and you will gradually turn to stone, preventing you from moving and shortly resulting in your death. Petrification must be cured quickly, lest you or your comrades be reduced to lifeless statues.
