Preserved Medusa Head is the severed head of a medusa, cut from the beast at the height of its strength. Its petrifying glare is nigh as potent as if it yet lived. It is a strong tool against tough foes, because its gaze turns enemies to stone.
The head is taken by cutting it off the Medusa while the beast is still at full strength. It decays in the inventory over time, so storing it at an inn keeps it intact.
The severed head of a medusa. Cut from the beast at the height of its strength, its petrifying glare is nigh as potent as if it yet lived.
It is taken by cutting off the Medusa's head before the beast loses its first health bar. The window is tight. One approach uses a Warfarer: a few Soporific Bolts put the Medusa to sleep, and a fully charged Indomitable Lash severs the head the moment it collapses, with pawns told to wait outside or dismissed to keep their attacks off it. Before the Warfarer vocation is unlocked, a Thief or Fighter with a low-rank thunder weapon can latch onto the head and keep striking the neck, ideally with a single mage pawn in the party.
The head can rot while carried, so storing it straight away, for instance at the Pilgrim's Inn in Bakbattahl, keeps it intact. The Sorcerer augment Stasis also keeps it fresh for longer.
