Trusty Sword is a light starter Weapon in Dragon's Dogma 2. It has the lowest stats of all Swords and should ideally be replaced pretty early on. For those who choose to start the game as Fighter vocation (class), they will acquire this weapon for free to start with.
It weighs 1.6 kg and carries 55 Strength, all of it slash damage, with 99 Knockdown Power and no element or debilitation. Only the Fighter can wield it. Merchants pay 290 G for it, and given as a gift it is worth 5 favor to an NPC who likes it.
A sword forged from light yet durable material. Built for agile fighters who would stay nimble in battle.
How to get Trusty Sword and Map Location
Trusty Sword is sold for 850 G.

- You can get the Trusty Sword for free by starting the game as a Fighter or acquiring the Fighter vocation from a Vocation Guild for 100 Discipline Points.

Smithing Upgrade Guide
Every weapon can be enhanced three times at an armoury or smithy, each time for gold and the materials listed below, and a fourth time with Wyrmfire. Any armoury or smithy works on weapons and armour alike. Each smith works in one style, and you can mix styles from one level to the next.
- Vermundian raises every attribute moderately. Armouries and smithies in Vermund offer it, such as Roderick's Smithy and Bjorn's Armory in Vernworth.
- Elven raises Magick and Magick Defense greatly, Strength and Defense only a little. Grisha's Armory in Sacred Arbor offers it.
- Battahli raises Strength and Defense greatly, Magick and Magick Defense only a little. Armouries in Battahl offer it, such as Awaran's Arms and Bodas's Armory in Bakbattahl.
- Dwarven raises Knockdown Power and Knockdown Resistance. Sara at Brokkr's Smithy offers it after Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge, and Gautstafr after Put a Spring in Thy Step.
- Wyrmfire halves the weight and gives a further boost once the first three enhancements are done. The Dragonforged at Bay Wayside Shrine takes payment in Wyrmslife Crystals instead of gold.
The tables below give the cost, materials and result of every level for each style.
Upgrading the Trusty Sword is cheap: all three levels of any style cost 399 G together (42, 102 and 255 G). Level 2 needs Goblin Horns (Vermundian, Elven) or Copper Ore (Battahli, Dwarven), with a piece of Scrap Iron for Elven and Dwarven; Level 3 needs a Slate-Colored Horn or Silver Ore with Scrap Iron or Beast-Skin.
Battahli hits hardest, 82 Strength at Level 3, but raises the weight to 1.75 kg; Vermundian (77) and Elven (71) lower it to 1.48 kg. Dwarven keeps Strength at 77 and lifts Knockdown Power from 99 to 174. Wyrmfire then halves the weight and adds 60 Strength for 15 Wyrmslife Crystals, taking a Battahli blade to 142.
Even fully upgraded it trails the other early swords: an Iron Sword (1,480 G) reaches 103 Strength at Battahli Level 3, and the Superior Trusty Sword, the gilded pre-order version that starts at 89, reaches 133.
