Esgar, Priest of Blood is a dungeon boss in Elden Ring.

Esgar, Priest of Blood is a follower of Mohg who waits at the bottom of the Leyndell Catacombs, beneath the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds. He fights like a Tarnished with a dagger and blood incantations. Two hounds fight at his side, and every attack in the arena builds up blood loss. His reward is the Lord of Blood's Exultation talisman.

Lore

Esgar wears a tall hood and the robes of a sanguine noble. He wields the Reduvia, a curved dagger, and channels blood incantations through a sacred seal. Two stray hounds stalk beside him.

Esgar served Mohg, Lord of Blood. He hid in the catacombs far beneath the capital and offered his blood rites to his lord.

Attacks

Dagger combos: fast cuts that build blood loss. Backing off and dodging keeps the meter low.
Jump attacks: he leaps in to close distance. A roll through the landing opens a heavy jump attack in return.
Swarm of Flies: a slow cloud of bloodflies that bursts on contact. A roll through the swarm or a pillar blocks it.
Bloodflame Talons: blood spikes erupt from the ground after a clear wind-up, and the big burst comes after a short delay. Moving away from the spot avoids it.
Hounds: two fast dogs bite and build blood loss.

Tactics

Eat Invigorating Cured Meat or raise robustness to slow the blood loss buildup.
Kill the two hounds first, because they are fast and also cause bleed.
Summon a spirit ash to distract Esgar or one of the hounds.
Use the pillars to block Swarm of Flies.
Punish his jump attacks with heavy jump attacks to knock him down.
Use status effects, since he is a human enemy.
