Leyndell, Royal Capital is the golden city of the Elden Lords at the foot of the Erdtree. It lies on the eastern edge of the Altus Plateau, inside two great ramparts and a moat. Morgott, the Omen King rules it as the Veiled Monarch. The giant corpse of the dragon Gransax towers over its streets. The capital is reached after two Great Runes are claimed, usually late in the middle of a run.

Lore
Leyndell is the heart of the Golden Order and the throne of the Elden Lords. Queen Marika built her capital here, beneath the Erdtree. Godfrey, First Elden Lord, ruled from the Elden Throne until Marika stripped his warriors of grace and banished them. Radagon of the Golden Order later took the throne as the second Elden Lord.
Long ago, the Ancient Dragon Gransax attacked the city. It is the only time in history that Leyndell's walls have fallen. That attack began the war against the Ancient Dragons. The war ended when Godwyn the Golden befriended the dragon Fortissax. Godwyn's friendship gave rise to the capital's cult of the Ancient Dragons. Gransax's corpse still lies across the city, a great spear of lightning in its hand.
Godwyn was the first demigod to die, killed on the Night of Black Knives. His death began the Shattering. Morgott was born an Omen, horned and cursed, and was hidden away beneath the city. Yet he made himself the guardian of the Erdtree. He fights off every Tarnished who comes to claim the throne.
The Fortified Manor in the south-west is a perfect copy of the Roundtable Hold. In its glory, the Two Fingers and Godfrey's warriors gathered there. Below the city, the Omen were locked in the sewers of the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds. Deeper still, a caravan of nomads was buried alive, and in their despair they called the Frenzied Flame.
Geography
The capital is entered from the Capital Outskirts. The main gate in the north-east opens to those who hold two Great Runes and have visited the Roundtable Hold. A Draconic Tree Sentinel guards it. The trapped chest at the Tower of Return in the Weeping Peninsula also leads to the Divine Bridge in the city.
The East Capital Rampart opens onto the main avenue and the Avenue Balcony. The wing of the fallen dragon leads up to the higher streets. The West Capital Rampart, the Fortified Manor and the Erdtree Sanctuary lie farther in. The Elden Throne sits beneath the Erdtree in the south-east, reached through the Queen's Bedchamber. The Royal Colosseum stands within the walls.
A well in the plaza leads down to the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds, the Leyndell Catacombs and the Cathedral of the Forsaken. A door out of the central city leads east to the Divine Tower of East Altus, guarded by the Fell Twins, and to the lift down to the Forbidden Lands.
Bosses
The shade of Godfrey, First Elden Lord meets the Tarnished in the city, and Morgott, the Omen King guards the Elden Throne. The streets hold the Erdtree Avatar, the Ulcerated Tree Spirit, the Crucible Tree Knight, the Valiant Gargoyle and the Divine Bridge Golem. Below the city wait Mohg, the Omen and Esgar, Priest of Blood. The Draconic Tree Sentinel guards the gate, and the Fell Twins guard the bridge to the Divine Tower of East Altus.
