The Greathood is a helm in Elden Ring. It only turns up late in a run, in the Mountaintops of the Giants.

The Greathood is a hood far larger than the head it is meant to cover, a burial shroud of sorts for those who discover, at long last, the truth they sought. It is worn by Esgar, Priest of Blood, and given by the painter spirit on a bridge northwest of the Stargazer's Ruins after solving the Sorcerer painting. It is a light head piece that raises both Intelligence and Faith by two at the cost of a cut to maximum HP, and its huge hood can obstruct the view. It suits hybrid builds that cast both sorceries and incantations and players who want Esgar's towering silhouette.

Stats

It carries 5 poise at 5.1 weight. Its Focus and Vitality are the highest in the slot. Its own effect: +2 to Intelligence, +2 to Faith, and -10% HP.

The Greathood tops every helm in focus and vitality at 47 each and carries 6.2 holy negation, the best of any helm, plus 5.5 magic. It grants +2 Intelligence and +2 Faith in exchange for 10% of max HP, at 5.1 weight and 5 poise, which makes it the natural crown for a hybrid caster.

How to Get Greathood Guide

The Greathood is the reward for the "Sorcerer" Painting, left by the painter's spirit on a bridge northwest of the Stargazer's Ruins.

  1. Enter Castle Sol in the Mountaintops of the Giants and climb the ramparts to the central building of the courtyard.
  2. Drop in through the opening in its roof and touch the painting to get the "Sorcerer" Painting.
  3. Travel to the great stone bridge northwest of the Stargazer's Ruins.
  4. Walk to the ledge on the eastern side of the bridge, where the painter's spirit sits.
  5. Pick up the Greathood when the spirit fades.
