The Mountaintops of the Giants are the frozen peaks in the far north-east of the Lands Between. They were once the home of the Fire Giants. Their frozen corpses still litter the snow, and Fire Monks keep watch over the land. The Forge of the Giants, where the Erdtree is set on fire, stands on the highest peak. The Mountaintops are reached late in a run, after Morgott, the Omen King falls.

Lore
The Fire Giants took the mountaintops from the Ice Dragons long ago. When the Erdtree was born, Queen Marika sent Godfrey, First Elden Lord and his warriors up the mountain. They put the giants to the sword in the war against the giants. Marika first addressed Godfrey's host at the First Church of Marika before that war.
The giants were beaten, but their flame of ruin could not be put out. It was sealed in the Forge of the Giants, and the Age of the Erdtree began. Marika cursed the last Fire Giant to tend the flame forever. The Fire Monks were left to guard it, along with banished thorn sorcerers. Their fortress, the Guardians' Garrison, stands on the eastern side of the mountains.
The knights of Zamor were ancient foes of the giants. They are honored as heroes of the war, and their ruined town lies in the south-west. Long ago, astrologers who studied the stars lived among the peaks. Their ruins stand in the middle of the mountains. Castle Sol in the far north worshipped a cold eclipse that was said to keep death at bay.
Geography
The Grand Lift of Rold carries the Tarnished up from the Forbidden Lands. The road leads first to the Zamor Ruins and the Giants' Mountaintop Catacombs in the south-west. A narrow bridge with Fire Monks crosses north to the middle of the mountains. The Stargazers' Ruins stand on a plateau between two bridges. The Minor Erdtree (Mountaintops of the Giants) lies across the bridge to their south.
The Freezing Lake fills the east of the region. The Heretical Rise stands to its west, reached by an invisible walkway. Lord Contender's Evergaol lies on the south-western bank, and the Spiritcaller Cave opens on the western bank. The First Church of Marika stands on high ground south-east of the lake. The Shack of the Lofty lies north-west of the Stargazers' Ruins. Castle Sol crowns the northern edge, with a Wandering Mausoleum walking outside.
The road south-east runs to the Guardians' Garrison. A hanging chain crosses to Flame Peak, where the Church of Repose and the Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave stand. The Fire Giant waits beyond a narrow stone bridge. Past him, the Forge of the Giants rises on the easternmost peak. Resting there leads to Crumbling Farum Azula. With the Haligtree Secret Medallion, the Grand Lift of Rold leads instead to the Consecrated Snowfield.
Bosses
The Fire Giant guards the way to the Forge of the Giants. Borealis the Freezing Fog roams near the Freezing Lake. Commander Niall holds Castle Sol, and Roundtable Knight Vyke is held in Lord Contender's Evergaol. The Erdtree Avatar guards the Minor Erdtree. The Ancient Hero of Zamor, the Ulcerated Tree Spirit and the Spiritcaller Snail wait in its dungeons.
