The Impenetrable Thorns are a Thorn sorcery in Elden Ring. They come from the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
Impenetrable Thorns is a thorn sorcery of those who abandoned incantations after devout faith rewarded them only with despair, and its twisted Scadutree imagery is an edict to do harm to those who abandoned them; the Scadutree Avatar wields it as well. Each cast costs the caster 50 HP and some blood loss buildup, then sends three tracking trails of thorns erupting from the ground toward foes with magic damage and blood loss. It works as a darker, multi-trail Briars of Punishment with a wider spread, useful for crowd control or against a single large target at medium range, though it is less consistent on slopes or against enemies at a different height. Alberich's set pieces and the Staff of the Guilty boost its damage, and staves with arcane scaling raise its bleed buildup. It suits thorn and bleed sorcery builds that can afford to trade health for damage.
Effect
Wounds the caster with Scadutree thorns that then sprout from the ground in trails toward foes, dealing magic damage and building up blood loss; it can be cast repeatedly. Each cast costs 15 FP and 22 stamina and takes up one memory slot.
How to Get Impenetrable Thorns Guide
- Found on a corpse on a balcony in the Shadow Keep, beside a lone man-bat.
- From the Dark Chamber Entrance Site of Grace, cross the bridge and take the steps down on the right to reach it.
