The Briars of Punishment is a Thorn sorcery in Elden Ring. It is found in the Mountaintops of the Giants, near the end of a run.
Briars of Punishment is a thorn sorcery discovered by exiled criminals, the guilty whose eyes were gouged by thorns and who found the blood star in their darkness. Each cast costs the caster 50 HP and some blood loss buildup, then sends a trail of bloodthorns crawling over the ground to impale a single target from below with magic damage and heavy blood loss. The thorns track their target, reach a long way and can climb walls and ledges, which makes the spell better than Impenetrable Thorns for picking off lone enemies at a distance. Alberich's set pieces and the Staff of the Guilty raise its damage, while staves with arcane scaling such as the Albinauric Staff and Maternal Staff increase its bleed buildup. It suits bleed spellblades and arcane-leaning sorcerers who can afford to trade health for damage.
Effect
Wounds the caster for 50 HP to send a trail of bloodthorns along the ground that impales a single target from below, dealing magic damage and building up blood loss. Each cast costs 9 FP and 22 stamina and takes up one memory slot.
How to Get Briars of Punishment Guide
Found by a dead tree on the western cliffs at the southern end of the long stone bridge in the Mountaintops of the Giants, guarded by thorn sorcerers.
