Scadutree Avatar is a legendary boss in Elden Ring. It is part of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
The Scadutree Avatar is the shadow-born guardian of the Scadutree, a towering sunflower of thorns. It waits at the Scadutree Base, reached by a hidden path from the Shadow Keep. It must be defeated three times, and each phase grows faster and deadlier. It holds Miquella's Great Rune, a key aid for the final battle.
Lore
The Scadutree Avatar is a blackened shadow sunflower covered in thorny briars, rising from thick sap. Its head is a great flower, and two massive roots serve as its arms.
The Scadutree is the shadow of the Erdtree. The shadow sunflowers that bloom facing it are veiled in shadow, covered in thorns and suffused with profound holiness. The Avatar guards the tree and holds Miquella's Great Rune, which Miquella cast aside.

Phases
- Phase 1: the Avatar fights with root slams and thorn attacks.
- Phase 2: after its first health bar, it returns faster with new moves.
- Phase 3: in its final form it adds huge holy explosions.
Attacks
- Triple root strike: two spiked roots burst toward the player at the start, the second a little later. Dodging both and closing in opens its head.
- Overhead root combo: alternating left and right overhead slams with delays, ending buried in the ground. Waiting for the last slam is safest.
- Thorn summons: thorns erupt from the ground around the player. Moving away avoids them.
- Sacred explosion: a burst of holy light. A timed dodge or a shield block avoids it.
- Phase three explosions: huge holy blasts that deal immense damage. Holy protection and distance help.
Tactics
- Target its sunflower head, which is its weakest point.
- Bring Holyproof Dried Liver and the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman.
- Summon a fire-focused spirit such as Fire Knight Hilde, or Omenkiller Rollo.
- Use fire damage, because the Avatar takes extra damage from it.
- Save damage buffs for phase three, the hardest part of the fight.
- Bring Stanching Boluses for any blood loss.
