The Battlegrounds is an enemy camp on the old battlefield of Lord Vorgoth's army, just inside the Ancient Gate. It is the first stop in the lower wasteland of Cinder's Cradle. Notes left by his soldiers tell what happened to them here.
What Is Inside
A lonely tower stands by the battlefield. Vorgoth spent his nights there instead of leading his men. The quest Hearing Voices sends the player to the tower to look for traces of him. The first page of his diary lies there. It starts the quest Vorgoth's Ruminations. An Ancient Health Potion lies a short way past the camp. Diamond nodes grow in the Shroud of the region, and a good one sits just beyond the camp.

Lore
One soldier heard whispers from many mouths at once. He finally knew the voice when the Mysterious Wanderer spoke at Vorgoth's side. Another soldier watched Vorgoth boss stare at the moon from the tower. He blamed the Wanderer for poisoning his lord's mind. A field doctor wrote of a captured Ancient who turned grey and fell to ash. Nothing was left to bury. In his diary, Vorgoth says his men crushed the Ancient gate. He swore to tear down the Ancients and their Flame.
