The Grassrivers are the wild wetlands of Leonida. The region is modelled on the Florida Everglades. The region is known as the untamable jewel of the crown of Leonida. The region greets visitors with the words Welcome to the Wetlands.

The Grassrivers form a vast, primordial expanse of swamp and mangroves. Nobody knows quite what lies beneath the surface of the water. Gators are the most famous attraction in the region. Far deadlier predators and stranger discoveries hide among the mangroves. Alligators gather in large numbers around the boats that cross their waters.

Airboats skim across the shallow, grassy water of the swamp. The wetlands are a paradise for hunters who track the famous gators. Local hunters in the swamp carry rifles and even automatic weapons. Some pose proudly on their airboats after a hunt, still covered in mud. The other outdoorsmen out in the swamp are always armed.

Police chases can spill straight off the road and into the flooded swamp. Patrol cars and a police helicopter chase pickup trucks through water that rises around the wheels. Buildings on stilts and piers line the edge of the water.

The waterside town of Watson Bay sits on the edge of the wetlands. A tall water tower with the name of the town rises above its streets. Buildings on piers look out over the water towards the distant skyline of Vice City. Paradise Garage in Watson Bay offers a place to store a vehicle. It also has a weapon locker and a secure spot for stolen goods.

Back Country Radio blasts renegade country music across the Grassrivers. Its roving reporter is Mud Dog Mike, who doubles as a swamp meteorologist. He calls in from the driver's seat of his own Grassrivers airboat. He is also the not-so-secret lover of Delta Dawne, one of the hosts.
