Leonida is a sun-soaked state with the nickname the Goodtime State. Its land runs from neon city streets to wetlands, keys and forests. Mount Kalaga National Park marks its northern border. The map is about twice the size of the one in Grand Theft Auto V. It is also denser and more detailed, with more to interact with.
Weather in Leonida is local and lasting. Sun can shine in one area while rain falls in another. Rain leaves puddles and wet surfaces behind, and rainbows appear in the right light. Tropical storms and hurricanes also sweep across the state. Wildlife fills the land and water, from alligators and flamingos to manatees.
Vice City is the main city of Leonida and is modelled on Miami. Its motto is Everything in Excess. It is still the sun and fun capital of America. Ocean Beach offers pastel art deco hotels and bright white sand. Little Cuba is famous for its busy bakeries, and Tisha-Wocka for its bootleg flea market. VC Port calls itself the cruise ship capital of the world. Southside is home to the PTT Youngin$, one of the loudest gangs in the city. Raised freeways and narrow streets often fill with heavy traffic.
The Leonida Keys are a chain of tropical islands modelled on the Florida Keys. They call themselves the Gateway to Paradise. Life there is casual, and the bars are always loaded. Dive bars such as The Rusty Anchor draw a lively crowd. The waters around the islands are beautiful but also dangerous.
The Grassrivers are wild wetlands modelled on the Everglades. Gators are the famous attraction, but deadlier predators lurk among the mangroves. Airboats skim across the swamp, and the local hunters carry serious firepower. The town of Watson Bay sits on the edge of the wetlands.
Port Gellhorn is a fading holiday spot on the forgotten coast of Leonida. Cheap motels, closed attractions and empty strip malls fill its streets. A new local economy runs on malt liquor, painkillers and truck stop energy drinks. The Starlet Motel and the Delights cabaret still light up the roadside at night.
Ambrosia sits in the heart of Leonida and runs on heavy industry. The Allied Crystal sugar refinery provides the jobs. A local biker gang, the Final Chapter MC, provides almost everything else. Old school values still rule the town, whatever the cost.
Mount Kalaga National Park covers the wild northern fringe of the state. Its forests, canyons and rivers draw hunters, anglers and off-road riders. Hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals live deep in the backwoods.
