Orcish Smithing is the middle perk of the heavy branch of the Smithing tree in Skyrim. It requires skill level 50 and Dwarven Smithing, and it unlocks Orcish armour and weapons while doubling their improvement.
Orcish gear is worked with Orichalcum Ingots, smelted from orichalcum ore. The richest deposits sit in and around the Orc strongholds, Dushnikh Yal and Mor Khazgur in particular, and the strongholds will trade the ore even to outsiders once you are allowed inside.
A Perk You Pass Through
Nothing on the heavy branch is optional. Ebony Smithing lists Orcish as its prerequisite, and Ebony in turn gates Daedric Smithing, so every heavy smith spends this point on the way to the top of the tree.
Taken on its own merits, Orcish sits between Dwarven and Ebony in both armour rating and damage, and its weapons are noticeably heavier than the Elven equivalents on the other branch. It is a reasonable set to wear through the forties while the skill climbs toward 80.
