Where a pole stands upright, a beam lies flat. The Ashwood Beam 1 m is the shortest horizontal piece in the Ashwood set, found in the Supports tab. It bridges the gap between two uprights, ties a frame together and gives a floor or wall section something to rest on where a full length beam would overshoot.

How to Build It

It costs two Ashwood with a Workbench in range, the same station you need again to repair it. Short beams are cheap enough to use freely for trimming a frame to length. Keep in mind that every horizontal run loses support as it travels away from whatever holds it up, so the further a chain of beams reaches from a post or the ground, the weaker its far end gets.
