Furniture and decorations turn a shell of walls into a place you can actually live in. Beds set your spawn, chests store everything you own, and the rest feed the comfort system that makes the Rested buff last longer.

Comfort and the Rested Buff

Comfort is the real reason to decorate. Furniture placed near a bed raises your comfort level, and higher comfort makes the Rested buff last longer. That buff is the strongest free health and stamina regeneration in the game.

A basic setup of bed, fire, chair and table already gives a solid comfort bonus, and a banner, a rug and a few extra seats or lights push it higher. Each unique comfort item only counts once, so two identical chairs give the same bonus as one.

Fire, Smoke and Lighting

Any open campfire or hearth under a roof produces smoke. If the smoke has nowhere to escape, it pools and deals damage over time, so always leave a hole or chimney above an indoor fire.

Braziers, standing braziers and most wall torches give light without smoke, which is why they become the default indoor lighting once you can afford them. They still count toward comfort and make the base safer at night.

Beds and Storage

Sleeping in a bed sets your spawn point. You can only sleep at night, under a roof and with no enemies nearby, and building several beds lets you choose between respawn locations across the map.

Chests, reinforced chests and black metal chests are the only reliable long-term storage, and whatever is inside stays safe as long as the chest itself survives. Raids can break unprotected chests, so important storage usually sits inside walls.

Notes

• Each comfort item counts only once, so duplicates of the same piece add nothing extra.
• Even at high comfort levels, the Rested buff is still one of the strongest effects in the game.
• Smoke from indoor fires deals real damage, so vent every Hearth and Campfire.
• Sleeping in a Bed needs a roof overhead and no enemies nearby.
• Most decorative pieces only add comfort and looks, but the comfort bonus alone makes them worth placing.
