Steep roofs shed rain faster and look taller from the ground, and the Ashwood Beam 45° is the angled beam cut for the steeper roof pitch. You find it among the poles and beams of the Supports section. It frames the underside of a forty five degree roof or throws a long diagonal brace across an open frame.
How to Build It
A single Ashwood builds one, placed within reach of a Workbench. For the same cost it climbs twice as high as the shallow beam, which is why tall halls are usually framed on this pitch. It only meets other forty five degree pieces cleanly, though, so a roof that starts steep has to stay steep all the way along, or you will be patching the join by hand.
