The Charred Skull is blackened past recognition and long past any hope of a decent burial. It comes from the Ashlands, where you break it out of the Monuments of Torment standing in the ash or loot it from charred chests.

How to Get It

You have two ways to get it: break down a Monument of Torment out in the open ash, or loot a charred chest inside a fortress. Monuments are destroyed rather than mined for ore, so no particular pickaxe tier stands in the way. The biome around them does, so bring Fire Resistance Barley Wine and Ashlands armour before you stop to swing at scenery with charred patrols nearby. Skulls are light and pass through a wood portal, so once you are there it is easy to bring a supply home for decorating.
