Crops & Farming

Crops and farming turn foraging into a steady supply. Plant seeds with a Cultivator, wait for them to grow, harvest more than you planted, and repeat. The same system covers food crops and the tree seeds that let you grow your own wood.

How to Farm

Farming unlocks once you can make Bronze. The Cultivator (5 Core Wood + 5 Bronze) tills ground into cultivated soil, and it is the only tool that plants seeds. Flat, cleared ground works best. Crops need a little space between them or they fail to grow, and they need open sky too; a full roof stops growth.

Most early crops (Carrots, Turnips, Onions) grow in several biomes. Barley and Flax only grow in the Plains, which is why late-game farms usually sit there despite the danger.

Main Crops

These crops carry a farm, and each one is planted from something the biome in its row gives up first.

Carrots, Turnips and Onions produce extra seeds when harvested, so the farm expands on its own. Barley and Flax return two of themselves per plant, so you keep half for replanting and use the rest.

Tree Seeds

Beech, Birch, Fir, Pine and other tree seeds work the same way. Plant them on cultivated ground and they grow into full trees. It is the cleanest way to build a renewable wood supply without relying on natural forests.

Notes

• Seeds stack to 100.
• A Scythe harvests a whole patch at once, while hand harvesting takes one plant at a time.
• Barley and Flax will not grow outside the Plains.
• Crops need cultivated ground, open sky and enough space between plants.
• Growth takes real time whether you are online or not, so plant, leave and come back later.
• Protect Plains farms well, because Fulings and Lox will destroy unprotected fields.
