Meads & Potions

Meads and potions are the drinks that sit outside the food system. Food sets your maximum health, stamina and eitr, and a mead is the instant answer when that is not enough: a heal that lands while the enemy is still swinging, a resistance that opens a new biome, or a short burst of power for a hard fight.

Brewing Process

Every mead is made in two steps:

1. Craft the mead base at a Mead Ketill. Like a cauldron, it needs a fire underneath. 2. Place the base in a Fermenter and wait. Fermentation takes real time, usually two full in-game days.

Until the fermenter finishes, the base does nothing, which is why resistance meads have to be planned before the trip that needs them. Bases stack higher than finished meads, so it is usually smarter to carry bases and finish them at a safe outpost.

What Meads Actually Do

Instant healing and stamina or eitr restoration that ignores the three food slots.
Long resistance buffs that make early runs into the Swamp, Mountains or Ashlands survivable.
Utility effects such as +250 carry weight, a reduced swimming cost or a temporary cut to attack stamina.
A few short, high-risk combat meads. Berserkir Mead lasts only 20 seconds, and while it is active you take extra physical damage.

Healing, stamina and eitr meads each share a cooldown within their own family, so you cannot chain two major heals back to back.
