The Elaking is a night hunter of the Deep North and the main mob in the Winding Tunnels under its abandoned villages. Some carry a lantern and some do not, and the two types fight differently.

Behaviour

An Elaking without a lantern has two attacks. Its claw hits for 40 blunt and 100 slash every two seconds. Every three seconds it can also leap at you for 75 blunt and 30 slash, plus 200 chop and 100 pickaxe. A lantern-bearer swings its lantern instead, for 65 blunt, 65 slash and 35 fire every two seconds, and it does not leap.

A one-star Elaking has 700 health and claws for 150 slash. A two-star has 1,050 health and claws for 200, and its leap deals 400 chop.

Where to Find It

Out on the open Deep North, Elakings spawn only at night and with one star at most. Up to two without lanterns can appear near a player, plus one lantern-bearer at a time. In the Winding Tunnels, the wardrobe shafts are Elaking spawners. Each shaft spawns a new Elaking every ten seconds while a player is within 30 metres, until five are near it, and one in three of them carries a lantern. A shaft has 300 health, and once you break it, it stops for good.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Fire is its weakness, and frost only does half damage. Spirit does nothing at all, while everything else hits its 350 health in full. Once a wardrobe shaft is broken, it stops spawning Elakings.

It takes extra damage from Fire.
It resists Frost, at half damage.
It is immune to Spirit.

Level Variants

Each creature can spawn at one of three levels, shown as stars next to its name. The level is rolled separately every time one spawns, so a two-star is rarer than a one-star.

Notes

Elakings without a lantern drop the Intricate Key Mould one time in five, while lantern-bearers never drop it.
Every Elaking drops one Elaking Hair Bundle, or two at one star, and drops its trophy one time in ten.
