The Winding Tunnels are a dungeon in the Deep North. As the name suggests, it is a maze of convoluted tunnels, home to large numbers of Elaking and some Eyeless Ones.
Where to Find It
You enter the Winding Tunnels from inside the Great Halls of Abandoned Villages. Up to 40 Great Halls are placed in each world, away from the edges of the Deep North, at least two metres above sea level and at least 256 metres apart.
What's Inside
Each Winding Tunnels dungeon is generated from 32 to 48 rooms, and the inside is always dark. Many passages between rooms are blocked by walls of roots, which have 150 health and a 50% chance to drop one Timberwood when destroyed. You can also break the smaller roots on the floors and walls for Timberwood.
Wardrobe Shafts spawn Elaking. A Wardrobe Shaft has 300 health and stops spawning once you destroy it. Piles of Rubble have one health. Both drop Timberwood, Scrap Iron, a Silver Necklace or moulds for weapons, shields or the Intricate Key, and Piles of Rubble add four staff moulds to the same list.
Luminous Larvae give light and can be harvested. You find Frostcores at the end of most tunnels, where each spot a Frostcore can hang has a 45% chance to hold one.
