An opening in a stone wall needs something spanning the top of it, and that is what the Stone Arch is for. It is a two metre span from the Supports tab and costs four Stone. Set between a pair of pillars, it carries the courses above a doorway or a gate, doing the job a beam does in a timber house.

How to Build It

At four Stone it is the cheapest of the stone supports, and like the rest it needs a Stonecutter in range. It needs a pillar or a wall at each end to rest on, so set the uprights first and drop the arch between them. Remember that stone only takes support from the ground and from other stone, so the whole opening has to belong to a run that reaches the earth.
