The Stone Pillar's whole job is carrying vertical load. It is a one metre column standing two metres tall, found in the Supports tab. For five Stone you get something that can carry a roof, take the ends of an arch, or lift a stone floor clear of wet ground without walling the space in.

How to Build It

Each column costs five Stone, cut within the radius of a Stonecutter. Stack them from the ground to gain height, since a column that starts on soil is worth far more than one started halfway up. Put an arch or a beam across the top so the weight above has somewhere to travel, instead of leaning on the pillar alone.
