Thatch Roof 26° is the shallower of the two basic roof panels: a low-pitched bundle of reed and batten from the Roofing section, made of nothing but two lengths of Wood. It is the piece that first gets rain off a longhouse. It throws water clear of the walls and gives everything underneath the cover that stops timber rotting.
How to Build It
Each panel costs two wood. You lay it with the Hammer anywhere a Workbench reaches, and repair it from that same bench. The shallow pitch costs you far less height than the steep set, which matters when you want a second storey above the hall. Thatch is the first thing the weather goes after, though. A roof panel is always out in the open, so it wears down over time and needs a pass with the hammer after a long storm. Settle the angle before you start, because a 26° panel will not meet a 45° one cleanly.
