Griffin Steel Sword - Mastercrafted is the Mastercrafted tier of the Griffin School steel sword, a witcher gear item. It deals 284-348 damage at level 34 and gives +20% sign intensity. Its diagram lies in the ruins east of the Boxholm signpost in Skellige. It comes late in the game.
The sign intensity makes it a fit for a signs build, the role the whole Griffin set leans toward. It also gives +25% crit damage, +5% crit chance and +5% bonus experience from humans and nonhumans. It has 3 rune slots.
Set Bonus
The Griffin set is medium armor. It has five tiers: Basic at level 11, Enhanced at 18, Superior at 26, Mastercrafted at 34 and Grandmaster at 40. The 3-piece and 6-piece bonuses come from Grandmaster pieces worn as a school set. 3 pieces: after a sign cast in standard mode with stamina, the next sign cast within 3 seconds costs no stamina. 6 pieces: Yrden traps are 40% larger, and inside the trap stamina regeneration rises by 5 per second, sign intensity by 100% and damage taken drops by 20%.

- Go to the ruins east of the Boxholm signpost in Skellige and take the diagram.
- A master blacksmith crafts it from the Superior Griffin Steel Sword.

The pin marks the ruins east of the Boxholm signpost on Ard Skellig. The Griffin Steel Sword - Mastercrafted diagram sits in a chest under rubble on the north side, reached by climbing the eastern wall. It turns up during Scavenger Hunt: Griffin School Gear Upgrade Diagrams - Part 4, and a master blacksmith crafts the sword from it.
- Start Scavenger Hunt: Griffin School Gear Upgrade Diagrams - Part 4 by finding any of its diagrams, or by buying Edwin Greloff's fourth map from Éibhear Hattori.
- Go to the ruins east of the Boxholm signpost.
- Climb up the eastern wall of the ruins.
- Loot the chest under the rubble to the north for the steel sword diagram.

Notes
In NG+ the diagram makes Legendary Griffin Steel Sword - Mastercrafted instead. It needs level 34 plus the NG+ starting level, deals 291.8-356.8 damage at level 35 (+7.2-8.8 per level) and gives +25% sign intensity, +50% crit damage and +10% crit chance.
