Dancing on a Minefield

Dancing on a Minefield
Type Gig
Gig Type Special Delivery
Fixer Dakota Smith
Tier 1
Region Badlands
Location Interstate 9

Dancing on a Minefield is a Special Delivery gig from Dakota Smith in the Badlands, off Interstate 9. Old minefields, supposedly disarmed, still dot the Badlands, and smugglers run their routes right through them. One smuggler's rig is now stranded in the middle of a field, with his route data on board. Dakota knows nomads who would pay well for that GPS data.

Story

Disarmed Mines

Dakota explains in the journal. The Badlands are dotted with minefields that were supposedly disarmed. After several people lost their legs to these "disarmed" mines, most decided to stay well clear. Except smugglers. A number of their routes run straight through the fields. It is risky, but brilliant: why guard the border when the mines do the job instead?

Now a smuggler and his rig are stuck in the middle of one of those fields. Maybe his tank ran dry, maybe his heart gave out, maybe he set off on a vision quest. It does not matter. What matters is that Dakota never knew the routes these men run, and now they are falling into her lap. V is to fetch the stranded vehicle, and its GPS data.

The Field

The field is full of mines on the ground and drones in the air. Beside the vehicle lies the smuggler's body, and Johnny has a few words about it. On the drive back, pursuers give chase.
