Bad Days

The journal knows some days are like that. Anything that can go wrong, will. Some days the toast burns and the keys go missing. Other days Militech comes to deal with someone for losing a car in a sandstorm.

Into the Storm

A shard records Madison's chat with her partner, Dakota Smith. Madison still had the patrol on her tail and asked for air support, a drone or anything. Dakota could not help, as a sandstorm was heading right for her. Dakota told her to hide in the storm, as the patrol might give up. Then the car died, and Madison decided to run. She knew it could be bad. She sent the coordinates of the car and asked Dakota, if she did not make it, to deliver the things in the envelope. Dakota knew to whom, and wished her luck.

Quick and Clean

A second shard records two border patrol officers. One has caught her. The other tells him to make it quick and clean, and notes that he went quite far. She would have escaped otherwise, he replies.
