NCPD Scanner Hustles
NCPD scanner hustles are crimes picked up on the police scanner across Night City and the Badlands. The NCPD is short of officers and money, so it hires mercs on the quiet, and the dispatcher's calls reach V as a subcontractor. There are two kinds. Reported crimes lead to a scene where something has already happened, usually with a gang, a body and a shard that tells the story, and sometimes a trail to a hidden cache. Suspected organised crime activity means a gang hideout with a named leader to take down, and often a stash worth looting. Phantom Liberty adds its own version in Dogtown. Each hustle is short, can be done on the way to other jobs, and pays a bounty from the city.

The NCPD
The in-game Database calls the Night City Police Department the police force the city needs and deserves. It is underfunded, poorly equipped and short of officers, and every one of them risks their life each day. Most have lost faith in a thankless job, and apathy and corruption run through the department. Still, some officers believe in protecting ordinary people, and for them a badge still means something.
The real power, as everywhere in Night City, lies with the corporations. Night Corp is the official sponsor of the force, and Arasaka and Militech have their say too. When an investigation hits a wall, the NCPD often hires mercs on the quiet. That is where V comes in.
Calling All Subcons
Hustles reach V as calls from the NCPD dispatcher to all subcontractors on the scanner. A typical call names the street, the gang and its leader, lists the leader's record, and offers a reward for taking down the network. Once V clears the spot, the city pays the bounty.
Reported Crimes
Reported crimes lead to a scene where something has already happened. V usually finds a group of gangers, a body or a car, and a shard that tells the story. Many lead further than the first spot: in Dangerous Currents, Maelstrom guards a car on Waldrop Street in Little China, and a shard in its boot gives the coordinates of a sunken cache off the docks. Each reported crime has a journal entry and a story of its own, from a lost delivery to a betrayed employee.
Suspected Organised Crime
Suspected organised crime activity means a gang hideout to clear. The dispatcher names a leader, such as Zoe Alonzo of the Valentinos in Chapel, and the job is done once the leader and the rest of the gang are down. These spots often hold a stash worth looting.
Dogtown
Phantom Liberty adds its own version in Dogtown, increased criminal activity. Most target a group under a named leader, from Barghest soldiers guarding a smuggling tunnel to Voodoo Boys in the Luxor High Wellness Spa, and each ends with a cache to loot.
Notes
Hustles appear all over the map, from the docks of Watson to the Badlands, and many can be cleared in passing on the way to other jobs. The named hustles are listed below with the district of each.
