Shock Value makes Bolts ignore armour completely. The shot no longer cares what an enemy is wearing, which turns the heaviest targets in the game into ordinary ones. It sits in the Tech weapon branch of the Technical Ability tree. It is the largest single damage increase the branch offers.
Effect
Armour reduces incoming damage, and the enemies that carry the most of it are precisely the ones a charge based weapon is slow to kill.
Ignoring armour rather than reducing it removes the whole problem. A Bolt into an armoured target lands for its full value, so the slow deliberate shot the branch is built around becomes the answer to the toughest enemy in the room.
How to Unlock Shock Value
It sits behind the Phenom gate of the Technical Ability tree and is bought from Bolt.
Perk Tree
Shock Value is bought from Bolt in the Technical Ability tree.
| Name | Image | Tier | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bolt | Phenom (15) | +20% charge speed for Tech Weapons. |
Character Builds
The build is a Tech weapon Technical Ability build facing armoured enemies, which is where a charge based weapon is otherwise slowest.
Buy it at the Phenom gate from Bolt, once the timing perks are in place. Dread in the Body tree strips armour and Shoot To Chill in the Reflexes tree pierces it, so each tree has its own answer and a build only needs the one that matches its weapon.
Notes
Shoot To Chill in the Reflexes tree pierces armour on automatic weapons instead, and Dread in the Body tree strips it, so each tree answers armour its own way.
Bolts have to be fired for this to apply, which is what Internal Clock and In Charge make reliable.
