The Honed Bolt is a Dragon Cult incantation in Elden Ring. It is found in Liurnia of the Lakes, around the middle of a run.
Honed Bolt is one of the incantations of the capital's ancient dragon cult, which arose after Godwyn the Golden defeated the ancient dragon Fortissax and befriended his fallen foe. It calls a bolt of lightning down onto the target from above, and while the first cast has a lengthy start-up, follow-up casts come out much faster. A single bolt is weaker than Lightning Spear, but repeated casts quickly raise its DPS, and hitting water adds a small area blast that can catch nearby enemies. When it misses it often strikes far behind the target, and in PvP it can be avoided with a sprint jump. The Gravel Stone Seal and the Death Knight set boost it, and it suits dragon cult faith builds that like chaining quick lightning strikes.
Effect
Calls a bolt of lightning down onto the target from above; follow-up casts come out faster than the first. Each cast costs 12 FP and takes up one memory slot.
How to Get Honed Bolt Guide
Honed Bolt is sold for 7,000 runes by Brother Corhyn or Miriel, Pastor of Vows once one of them is given the Dragon Cult Prayerbook. If both die before either receives the prayerbook, it cannot be bought in that playthrough.
- Travel to the Artist's Shack in Liurnia of the Lakes.
- Defeat the Leyndell Knight patrolling just south of the shack to get the Dragon Cult Prayerbook.
- Give the Dragon Cult Prayerbook to Brother Corhyn at the Roundtable Hold or Miriel, Pastor of Vows at the Church of Vows.
- Buy Honed Bolt from that teacher for 7,000 runes.
- If that teacher dies later, give their bell bearing to the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold to buy it there for the same price.
