Leyndell, Ashen Capital is the royal capital after the Erdtree has burned. Thick ash buries all but the tallest buildings. The Tarnished returns here after the Rune of Death is freed at Crumbling Farum Azula. The way into the Erdtree is now open, and the last battles of the base game are fought here.
Lore
When Maliketh, the Black Blade falls, the Rune of Death is unbound. The flame of ruin burns away the thorns that sealed the Erdtree. Leyndell is buried under ash, yet the Erdtree still stands. Its last defenders wait to stop the Tarnished from becoming Elden Lord.
Geography
The Tarnished arrives at the Leyndell, Capital of Ash Site of Grace after the fight at Farum Azula. The old streets are changed. Some paths are buried, and new ones have opened. A sewer hole near the dragon corpse still leads down to the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds.
The way forward climbs a curved stair and a lift to the Erdtree Sanctuary. The Elden Throne lies beyond it. Past the throne, the entrance to the Erdtree leads to the final arena. The Forbidden Lands, the Divine Bridge and the East Capital Rampart can still be reached.
Bosses
Sir Gideon Ofnir, the All-Knowing waits in the Erdtree Sanctuary. Godfrey, First Elden Lord returns as Hoarah Loux at the Elden Throne. Radagon of the Golden Order and the Elden Beast are fought in the final arena within the Erdtree.
Notes
- Leyndell, Ashen Capital replaces the royal capital for good, and treasure left in the old city is lost.
- The Erdtree's Favor +2 lies in a part of the ashen city reached from the Forbidden Lands.
