Godfrey, First Elden Lord is a legendary boss in Elden Ring.
Godfrey, First Elden Lord returns from exile to face the Tarnished at the Elden Throne in Leyndell, Ashen Capital. He opens the fight with his great axe and earth-shaking stomps. Partway through, he casts off his regent and fights as Hoarah Loux, Warrior, with bare-handed grapples. He is the last great warrior before the Erdtree.
Lore
Godfrey is a giant, broad-shouldered warrior who carries a massive double-headed axe. The lion Serosh, Lord of Beasts, rides upon his back. As Hoarah Loux he sheds his armor, slays the lion and fights with his bare hands.
Before he was a lord, Godfrey was Hoarah Loux, chieftain of the badlands and a bloodthirsty warrior. He became the first Elden Lord at Marika's side and took Serosh upon his back to suppress his lust for battle. He was regarded as the Lord of the Battlefield.
After his wars were done, Marika robbed Godfrey and his warriors of their grace and sent them from the Lands Between. They became the first Tarnished. Now Godfrey returns to the Elden Throne as a warrior once more.

Phases
- Phase 1: Godfrey fights with his axe and stomps that send shockwaves across the arena.
- Phase 2: after a cutscene he slays Serosh and fights as Hoarah Loux, Warrior, using grabs, leaps and bare-handed slams.
Attacks
- Stomp: a cone of rocks bursts forward from his stamp. A jump as the foot lowers avoids it more easily than a roll.
- Empowered stomp: at range he raises his axe and slowly lifts his leg with a red aura, and the shockwave covers the whole arena. Jumping the wave avoids it.
- Dash and stomp: if the player stays far away he rushes in and stamps. Staying close prevents it.
- Axe combos: slow, heavy swings that can be blocked with enough stamina, though dodging is safer.
- Hoarah Loux grabs: grapples that can kill outright and pass through shields. Learning their timing and dodging away is key.
- Hoarah Loux's Earthshaker: he slams the ground repeatedly and the earth erupts. Running far away avoids the final explosion.
Tactics
- Summon Nepheli Loux and Shabriri, whose signs stand outside the arena.
- Raise physical defense, because his attacks are mostly standard physical damage.
- Stay close in phase one so he cannot dash in with a stomp.
- Jump over his shockwave stomps.
- In phase two, learn his grab patterns and attack only after a full chain or leap ends.
- Use frost, since his resistances are low, especially in the second phase.
