The Charred Twitcher is the cheapest soldier in the burnt army and, more often than not, the one that actually finishes you off. Twitchers come out of the ash in threes and fours, spasming as they run, and they pelt anything they cannot reach with stones. In the Ashlands they are the constant background noise under every other fight. The moment you turn your back on one to deal with something larger is the moment the group closes in.
Behaviour
It is fast, always awake and always aggressive, and it moves in small packs rather than alone. Within about 1.6 metres it alternates left and right claw swipes across a three metre arc roughly every three seconds, each dealing 100 slash. On a two-star variant that is enough to gut a fully armoured Viking in a handful of hits. Between six and forty metres it stoops, scoops a stone off the ground and lobs it every six seconds for 75 pierce, so a pack of them keeps hurting you from a distance you thought was safe. Twitchers do not flee, heal or summon anything themselves, but they are summoned constantly. Charred Warlocks conjure weaker fifty-health versions on a ten second cycle, and monuments spit out fresh ones when a player strays near. The twitching is not decoration: it is the animation tell that the thing is about to move somewhere you did not expect.
Where to Find It
It is a common sight in the middle of the Ashlands, with up to four in the open during the day and up to five at night, and the night ones despawn at dawn. It also bursts randomly out of a Monument of Torment when a player gets close. Any Charred Warlock within thirty metres can summon a weakened variant with only fifty health on demand. Star variants appear on its natural spawns, taking it from 220 health up to 660 and doubling or tripling the damage of both attacks. Before Fader is put down, it also floods the map during the "The undead army marches" and "The dead have been summoned" events, which is when the biome stops being a place you explore and becomes a place you survive.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Treat twitchers as a crowd problem rather than a health-bar problem: 220 health is nothing, and the danger lies purely in being surrounded. Wide weapons earn their keep here. An atgeir's spinning secondary or a set of Berserkir Axes will clear a knot of them in one commitment, where a single-target thrust just lets the rest walk around your flank. Do not parry into a group, since one successful parry buys a window against one twitcher while the other three land free hits. Instead, back up against a rock face or the lip of a lava vein so they can only come at you from one side. Fire barely registers on something already burnt, and their hides turn thrusting damage aside, so a bow is a poor tool and a flame gem is worse. Spirit hurts them most, and blunt, slash, frost and lightning all land clean. Clear them before you commit to a Charred Warrior, and Ashlands-tier armour makes the stray stone irrelevant.
- It takes extra damage from Spirit.
- It shrugs off Pierce.
- It is barely troubled by Fire.
- It ignores Poison.
Drops
They drop Charred Bone and nothing else, but they die in such numbers that they are the easiest supply of it in the biome.

Level Variants
A creature can spawn at one of three levels, shown as stars beside its name. Each level is rolled separately when it spawns, so a two-star is rarer than a one-star. The difference goes beyond the numbers: a starred Charred Twitcher is recoloured or larger, so you can see it coming.
