Assault Gauntlets are heavy gauntlets from the base game, in Common, Master, Magic and crafted Magic variants. The crafted variant gives 55-57 armor at level 27. One pair always lies on a body north of Kaer Gelen in Skellige. The crafted pair is mid game, while other copies take their level when they drop or go on sale.

Every variant gives +4% piercing, +4% bludgeoning and +5% slashing resistance. The loot variants give 3-5 armor plus 2 per level. The Master variant adds 1 random effect, and both Magic variants add 2 random Magic effects. The crafted armor value is rolled once, when Geralt gets the diagram.

How to Get Assault Gauntlets

  • Common, Master and Magic: One pair lies on a body north of Kaer Gelen, behind the stones where the skeleton with a poem is. Armorers in Skellige and Toussaint and the merchant at the sawmill northeast of Rannvaig sell them. They also drop as random loot.
  • Magic (crafted): The diagram is a reward for the secondary quest The Path of Warriors. Armorers in Skellige and the sawmill merchant also sell it, and it appears at random diagram locations.

Assault Gauntlets Map Location and Quest Guide

Gunnar gives Geralt the Assault Gauntlets diagram at the Trail to Yngvar's Fang on An Skellig, as the reward for The Path of Warriors. The pin marks the quest. Geralt earns it by bringing back two tokens, one from the mountain top and one from the flooded cave.

  1. Talk to the Skellige woman in the center of Urialla Harbor, or to Gunnar at the Trail to Yngvar's Fang, to start The Path of Warriors.
  2. Speak to Gunnar at the Trail to Yngvar's Fang. He explains the two parts of the trail.
  3. Follow the trail up to Yngvar's Fang and kill the harpies and sirens on the way. Where a jump looks impossible, slide down to the path below and climb back up through the ruins.
  4. Loot the totem pole on the peak for the first token.
  5. Take the other path down and slide to the cave.
  6. Swim through the flooded cave. The second token lies about three quarters of the way through the second tunnel.
  7. Climb out at the end, or swim back the way you came to avoid the bandits outside.
  8. Return to Gunnar for the Assault Gauntlets diagram.

Notes

  • In NG+ the crafted variant needs the NG+ starting level plus 26, and its armor rises by 2 per level.
