The Bolt with Bait and the Tracking Bolt are the best bolts for armor piercing. Both add +100 armor piercing and deal 5-7 piercing damage. The Tracking Bolt also makes every hit bleed for 120 seconds. It is a level 1 Master bolt with +5 silver damage. It is crafted in stacks of 20 from a diagram sold in Silverton and on Hindarsfjall. A few smiths also sell the bolts. It fits the early game. Some soldier bodies in southeastern Velen carry 5-10 bolts.
The Tracking Bolt has the same +100 armor piercing, 5-7 piercing and +5 silver.
How to Get Bolt with Bait
- Buy Diagram: Bait bolt from the blacksmith in Silverton or the merchant at the Isolated Hut on Hindarsfjall, and craft the bolts in stacks of 20.
- Buy the bolts from the blacksmith in Oxenfurt, from Zoltan Chivay during The Battle of Kaer Morhen (if recruited), or from the smith in the 'Witcher' epilogue (if Redania wins).
- Search soldier bodies in southeastern Velen (Fyke Isle, Bandits' Camp island and nearby isles, near Crookback Bog, southeast of Benek) and south of Winespring Grange. Each body has a 50% chance of carrying 5-10 bolts.
Notes
The diagram is named Diagram: Bait bolt, while the bolt itself is Bolt with Bait.
