Redania
Redania is a kingdom of the North ruled by King Radovid V, called the Stern. It is the last Northern power still able to fight Nilfgaard. The free city of Novigrad lies within its borders. Much of the game's political story turns on its king.
Rule
Radovid's father, King Vizimir, was murdered when Radovid was a boy. A Regency Council ruled until Radovid seized power for himself. He earned the name "the Stern" through his harsh rule. Radovid gives the witch hunters a free hand against mages. He also hunts the sorceress Philippa Eilhart.
Role in the Story
Radovid and Emperor Emhyr both want Novigrad, the largest and richest city in the world. Radovid's hatred of Philippa becomes his weakness. In the quest Reason of State, Dijkstra, Roche and Thaler plot to kill him. Philippa is the bait that lures Radovid off his ship. She then stabs him to death on a bridge in Novigrad.
