Griffin Silver Sword is the basic tier of the Griffin School silver sword, a witcher gear item. It deals 202-246 damage at level 11 and gives +5% sign intensity. Its diagram is in a chest at Lornruk near Crow's Perch in Velen, found during Scavenger Hunt: Griffin School Gear. It is an early-game witcher sword.
The sign intensity points it at a signs build, the role the whole Griffin set leans toward. It also gives +20% bonus experience from monsters and has 1 rune slot.
Set Bonus
The Griffin set is medium armor. It has five tiers: Basic at level 11, Enhanced at 18, Superior at 26, Mastercrafted at 34 and Grandmaster at 40. The 3-piece and 6-piece bonuses come from Grandmaster pieces worn as a school set. 3 pieces: after a sign cast in standard mode with stamina, the next sign cast within 3 seconds costs no stamina. 6 pieces: Yrden traps are 40% larger, and inside the trap stamina regeneration rises by 5 per second, sign intensity by 100% and damage taken drops by 20%.
How to Get Griffin Silver Sword
- Start Scavenger Hunt: Griffin School Gear.
- Open the chest at Lornruk near Crow's Perch, which holds the diagram and crafting notes.
- Have a blacksmith craft it.
Griffin Silver Sword Map Location and Quest Guide
The pin marks Lornruk, the lighthouse fort at the far end of the Crow's Perch region in Velen. The Griffin Silver Sword diagram sits in a chest up a ladder beside the door to the bridge, with crafting notes. It turns up during Scavenger Hunt: Griffin School Gear.
- Start Scavenger Hunt: Griffin School Gear by finding any of its diagrams, or by buying one of Edwin Greloff's maps from the armorer in Midcopse.
- Travel to Lornruk and kill the wyvern, drawing it to the near side of the bridge first.
- Jump into the water below, looking first to avoid the rocks. Kill the drowners near the place of power.
- Dive into the underwater cave entrance and swim through to the other side.
- Climb the ledges and the ladder, then keep climbing to the exit on the other side of the bridge.
- Turn to face the door just used and climb the ladder beside it.
- Loot the chest at the top for the silver sword diagram and the crafting notes.

Notes
In NG+ the diagram makes Legendary Griffin Silver Sword instead. It needs level 11 plus the NG+ starting level, deals 211-257 damage at level 12 (+9-11 per level), has 3 rune slots and gives +21% sign intensity, +25% crit damage and +5% crit chance.
