The sign intensity suits a signs build. It also gives +5% bonus experience from humans and nonhumans and has 2 rune slots.
As a Griffin piece it belongs to a set whose bonuses reward sign casting and Yrden.

The Griffin set is medium armor. It has five tiers: Basic at level 11, Enhanced at 18, Superior at 26, Mastercrafted at 34 and Grandmaster at 40. 3 pieces: after a sign cast in standard mode with stamina, the next sign cast within 3 seconds costs no stamina. 6 pieces: Yrden traps are 40% larger, and inside the trap stamina regeneration rises by 5/s, sign intensity by 100% and damage taken drops by 20%. These bonuses come from Grandmaster pieces worn as a set.

- Start Scavenger Hunt: Griffin School Gear Upgrade Diagrams - Part 1 by finding any of its diagrams, or by buying Edwin Greloff's first map from the armorer in Midcopse.
- Go to the pirate camp on the peninsula southwest of the Refugees' Camp.
- Kill the pirates that guard the ruins.
- Climb the small flight of stairs inside the ruins.
- Loot the chest at the top for the steel sword diagram.
