KnightFight - Achievements

Medals are what KnightFight calls achievements, and most arrive unasked: a running total crosses a mark, or a battle session finishes at one end of a list. The shelf that puts them in front of other players stands at the estate. Thirty-seven are recorded and twenty-seven of those can reach a player at all, the other ten belonging to non-player characters.

The highscore sits in this category as the opposite kind of record: it reports where everybody stands now, not what happened once. It was reset in the winter of 2010, and the Order of the Golden Knight exists only to mark medals held before that reset.

The five types are not tiers of difficulty; they differ in what is measured. Type 1 watches a running total across all battles and pays out again each time it passes the mark: every 100,000 gold won, every 5,000 attacks made in person, and so on down the table. Each copy carries its figure, and no figure is awarded twice.

Type 2 is a record holder's award for the best or worst single battle session across every player's completed sessions, so it turns on the rest of the field as much as on the knight. Two of the eleven go to the fastest 200 and the fastest 400 attacks. One is not a record at all: the anniversary memento marks the player whose battle is the 1,000th, 1,500th or 2,000th completed on a battle server.

Type 3 runs on the season, which is a calendar month, and is handed out once the season closes. Ten places are recognised in each of its nine categories, and only a player's best place in each counts per season. Three of the nine reward doing badly: most fights lost, most hit points taken, and the lowest battle point totals of the season. Each carries four images the source never tells apart.

Type 4 is not automatic: its two entries, the Golden Knight award and a Christmas contest in 2010, were granted by hand on the home worlds as the occasion required. Type 5 goes to non-player characters on criteria the source calls only random, and all ten are jokes.

%1$s and %2$s in the table are the game's own placeholders, filled with a number when an award is issued; type 5 uses a bare x the same way. The source also gives Victor's Order of Aggression and Victor's Order of the Iron Winner the same graphic, which reads as a slip rather than a decision.
