KnightFight - Shields

A shield is worn in the hand a one-handed weapon leaves free, and it is the only piece of equipment that adds parry outright. A parried attack deals no damage at all, which is a different thing from reducing it.

Shared with armour

Shields draw on the same armour skill as body armour, so points spent on one buy access to the other. The range here runs from armour skill 1 to 362.

Reduction and dexterity

Damage reduction is subtracted from the attacker's damage before it lands, and dexterity adds to it. Dexterity gives nothing without armour worn, so the shield and the chest piece are bought as a pair rather than separately.
