Downtown is the social heart of City Center, a district of office towers, luxury hotels, restaurants and nightclubs. Its waterfront draws artists and the fashionable. 7th Hell and Cambridge Winery are among its bars. At night its wide streets fill with people and traffic.
History
After the Fourth Corporate War an effort was made to rebuild this part of the city in a western European style, and for a time it was known as Little Europe. Budget pressures soon took over, and by the 2050s it had become a mix of entropic and neo-militarist architecture.
The reconstruction boom of the 2060s turned Downtown, together with the corporate centre, into a showcase of the city's revival.

Life in Downtown
Downtown is one of the newest and most crowded districts. Massive office buildings sit beside apartment complexes, and its galleries, concert halls and studios crowd the waterfront.
The district is a regular stop on jobs that take V into high society.
Most postcards of Night City show Downtown, with its tall office towers, corporate hotels and exclusive restaurants. Animated billboards advertise bars, braindance clubs and love hotels on every street.
Downtown has a darker side as well. After dusk, dealers in its back alleys, hotels and bars offer synthetic drugs and illegal braindances. Gang members guard most of the places that offer night life.
