Embedded Exploit

| Class | Intelligence Perk |
| Attribute | Intelligence |
| Tier | Pro (9) |
| Levels | 2 |
| Requires | Optimization |
Embedded Exploit rewards V for softening a target before attacking it. The first level adds RAM recovery, and the second raises quickhack damage heavily against anyone already under a control hack, a covert hack or a distraction. Most of the upper netrunning branch of the Intelligence tree is bought through it. It is where the tree starts to kill rather than control.
Effect
The damage bonus is the reason to take it. It is large, and it applies to the ordinary combat hacks a netrunner uses most.
The condition teaches the build its own rhythm. Fire something cheap and non damaging first, then fire the hack that hurts, and the second one lands for far more than it would have alone.
| Level | Effect |
|---|---|
| 1 | +10% RAM recovery rate. |
| 2 | +60% quickhack damage against enemies affected by Control quickhacks, Covert quickhacks or the Distract Enemies quickhack. |
How to Unlock Embedded Exploit
It sits behind the Pro gate of the Intelligence tree. Optimization is bought first, and the second level is where the damage arrives.
Perk Tree
Embedded Exploit is bought from Optimization in the Intelligence tree.
| Name | Image | Tier | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Optimization | Rookie (4) | +35% RAM recovery rate. |
Buying Embedded Exploit opens the perks below.
| Name | Image | Tier | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Icepick | Pro (9) | -1 RAM cost for Combat quickhacks used on enemies affected by or targeted by Control quickhacks, Covert quickhacks, or the Distract Enemies quickhack. | |
| Overclock | Phenom (15) | +10% RAM recovery rate. | |
| Shadowrunner | Pro (9) | -100% trace progress after performing a Takedown. | |
| Speculation | Pro (9) | Neutralizing an enemy with a Combat quickhack recovers RAM equal to 25% of the total cost all quickhacks affecting the target. | |
| System Overwhelm | Pro (9) | +7% Quickhack damage for each unique quickhack and DOT effect affecting the target. |
Character Builds
The build is the damage netrunner, which fires something cheap first and something expensive second. The deck matters more than the weapon, and RAM is the resource being managed.
Buy both levels as the Pro gate opens, then Icepick for the discount and System Overwhelm for the variety bonus. Overclock at the Phenom gate is the destination, and Speculation and Shadowrunner round out the branch. The second level is where the damage arrives, so it is never left unbought.
Notes
Icepick makes the follow up combat hack cheaper under the same conditions, and System Overwhelm raises damage further for each separate effect on the target.
Overclock, Shadowrunner and Speculation are all bought from it as well.
